PRODUCT DESCRIPTION FOR HIBISCUS
This product description highlights the different stages of production for dried hibiscus flowers produced by our company and also the procedures along each of the phases

FLOW CHART DESCRIPTION: The following describes the step by step procedure for the processing of hibiscus as shown in the flow diagram
Receiving

Receiving is the first stage of the flow chart and our HCP1 begins here. Farmers provide the dried hibiscus flower and ginger for us. At this point, the moisture content is determined using a moisture meter instrument (moisture content < 10%), and the quality of the hibiscus flower is also checked (i.e foreign materials in the products).
Temporary Storage (Holding) and Cleaning
The dried hibiscus flowers are moved to a temporary storage, the temporary storage is made up of two warehouses, warehouse 3 and 4 where the dried hibiscus flowers are prepared for further cleaning. The dried flowers are stacked on pallets of the warehouse floor. The company has a team made up of over 150 people (130 women and 20 men).
The workforce is responsible for cleaning each batch of the stored hibiscus.
Impurities such as dirt, sand, stones, and rotting and defective hibiscus flowers are removed from the batch. All foreign materials are removed to maintain the quality and integrity of the products.

Sample Collection/ Analysis:
Samples are taken from each batch and are taken for test at the lab. Products with chemical residue are separated from the chemical free products.

Cleaning / Checking

After sample collection and testing, Hibiscus flowers that passed the lab test are brought out for cleaning. Before the permanent storage, the product is verified to meet the minimum grade required for admittance in the importing country. The checks are thorough, every form of mistakes is eliminated at this stage.
Permanent Storage (Processed Hibiscus Flower)

The processed Hibiscus flowers are moved into a second storage facility; warehouse 1, and warehouse 2. The dried flowers are stored in sacks and bagged neatly with their batch numbers clearly written on the bags. The warehouse provides pallets on which the bags are neatly placed. They are stored at a safe distance from the walls and at room temperature.
Transport Port

The bagged products are transported to the seaport in properly covered trucks and neatly stacked.
